The teratogenic effects of commonly prescribed psychopharmacologic agents in animals and human fetus are summarized in this article. Since the human fetus is beyond the pharmacological investigations for ethical reasons, it is considered to importance knowing experimental animal researches on pharmacology and toxicology. Psychotropic agents included in this review are antidepressants, antianxiety agents and antipsychotic agents. Epidemiological studies, case reports and animal studies are discussed.

Bu makalede gebelikte en sık kullanılan psikofarmakolojik ilaçların hayvanlarda ve fetüste teratojenik etkileri konusundaki bilgiler özetlenmiştir. Etik nedenlerle fetus üzerinde farmakolojik deneyler yapılamaması hayvan deneylerindeki farmakolojik ve toksik etkileri önemli kılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada sözü edilen psikotropik ajanlar antidepresanlar, anksiyolitikler ve antipsikotik ilaçlardır. Epidemiyolojik çalışmalar, olgu sunuları ve hayvan çalışmaları gözden geçirilmiştir.
