Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) is a common type of dementia which attracts increasingly more attention. With the advances in neuropsychological evaluations and development of clinical diagnosis criteria, it, will probably, be recognized more commonly. According to similar symptomology such as; severe deterioation of personality and social conduct, one of the psychiatric disorders which may be hard to differentiate from this subtype of dementia is schizophrenia. We would like to discuss a schizophrenia-like psychosis case which was presented by severe desorganization symptoms and cognitive deterioration and in addition to which, had a history of neuroleptic malign syndrome. We would like to emphasize that FTD is one of the disorders which should be kept in mind in the differential diagnosis of late onset schizophrenia.
Frontotemporal demans: Şizofreni benzeri psikoz tablosuyla giden bir psikoz olgusu
Frontotemporal Demans (FTD) son yıllarda giderek ön plana çıkan oldukça sık görülen bir demans tipidir. Nöropsikolojik değerlendirmenin ve tanı kriterlerinin gelişmesiyle giderek daha çok ön plana geçmeye adaydır. Kişilik değişikliğine ve sosyal davranım alanında belirgin bozukluğa yol açan bu demans tipinin karışabileceği psikiyatrik tablolardan biri de şizofrenidir. Bu yazıda belirgin dezorganizasyon bulguları ve yıkımla giden ayrıca nöroleptik malign sendrom öyküsü olan bir şizofreni benzeri psikoz vakası ışığında, geç başlangıçlı psikozların ayırıcı tanısında FTD'ın gözönünde bulundurulması gerektiği vurgulanmaktadır.
