The history of psychiatric disorders affecting mental status of the patients, and drugs used in their treatments went back to the beginning of human history. To evaluate the current status of psychiatry and psychopharmacology in Turkey and in the world, first we should review the first appearance and evolution of these concepts in the human history. In this article, we tried to assess the pioneering persons who had prominent historical contribution to the development of psychopharmacology in our country and the world, and the psychopharmacologic agents developed during this period that further contributed to the innovation of psychopharmacology..
Modern Psikofarmakolojinin Ellinci Yılında Türkiye’de ve Dünyada Psikofarmakoloji ve Psikofarmakolojik Araştırmaların Tarihçesi
Ruhsal yaşantıyı etkileyen ruhsal bozukluklarda ve hastalıklarda kullanılan ilaçların ve maddelerin tarihi insanlık tarihi kadar eskidir. Türkiye'de ve dünyada psikiyatri ya da psikofarmakolojideki güncel durumu değerlendirebilmek için önce bu konunun insanlık tarihi içindeki konumunu ve gelişimini gözden geçirmek gerekir. Bu yazıda ülkemizde ve dünyada psikofarmakolojinin gelişim sürecine katkıda bulunmuş öncü insanlar, hekimler ile bu süreç içerisinde geliştirilen ilaçlar ve bunların literatüre olan katkıları değerlendirilip incelenmiştir.
